Watch our Sewing Inspiration VIDEO for Lamb!
This month is certainly living up to the old adage that March goes in like a lion and, with this collection, it's sure to go out like a Lamb. Our newest in house designed and printed collection springs from a love for the new life that emerges with the coming season. After this latest snowfall we're particularly looking forward to that serene feeling of renewal that opens the heart and lightens the step.
With its pretty pastels and lush natural hues, this storied collection will be particularly lovely for nurseries. Start off with some stuffed baby toys and coordinating throw pillows. For the blocks, we used this easy tutorial from While She Naps. Mix your Lamb prints with coordinating Glacier Blue, Lake, Quartz, Sprout, Stone, and White Minky for an extra plush feel. You'll find the Stuffed Bunny Pattern over at Violette Fields Threads; we're particularly in love with the Faux Fur wrap stole! For the bunny itself, we took advantage of our Daisies Basic available in over 60 colors. The throw pillows are made from one half of our Lamb Project Panels. The pillows finish at 22" square, or you could easily use them as a centerpiece in a quilt.
The other half of each of the Morning Dew and Sunny Afternoon Project Panels yields a standing Lamb, shown here in a simple Faux Fur Backed crib/stroller quilt.
Of course while designing Lamb we envisioned lots of sweet Easter dresses that could be worn all through the season and into the summer.
We've been wanting to try out the Mia Tieback Maxi Dress from Simple Life Pattern Co and those bold, blooming daisies fit the nostalgic style of the dress perfectly.
Never to be outdone by the front, the backs of SLPCO dresses always have a unique quality. Here, two triangle panels tie in the middle of the back to make this dress sweetly sophisticated.
We alternated those tiers with Bunny's Day Out in Glacier Blue, with a little Brussels Washer in Chambray to break up the prints and add to the bohemian vibe of the dress. My daughter Annie loves that it's both pretty and extremely comfortable, a combination that'll make this one get lots of wear in the coming months.
We went with a third fabric for the bodice front. Sometimes mixing too many fabrics can give a garment too much of a homespun look, but if you keep it tonal I think you can retain an element of sophistication. We think the Cross Stitch in Lake does just that.
The two quilts are actually our faux patchwork design, with quilting over the sashing borders to really make those squares pop. Each of the quilts are backed in the bold Abloom daisy prints.
These are great for quick quilts as well as pillows and totes.
At this point after all of our in house collections, my daughter has a revolving parade of quilts that changes with each wash of her bedding!
Not to be left out, my niece Ava got a matching Mia Maxi dress as well. For hers we went for a more juvenile look, alternating Abloom in Kale with the Double Border design in Shell. To carry over the look from my daughter's dress, we broke up the prints with Essex Yarn Dye in Olive.
Of course, all of those details are lost on a toddler as she enjoys her very first Peep!
And for another fun first, my brand new TWIN nephews are ready for their Hawthorne Threads debut. Alex and Andrew look pretty sharp, dressed to match their big sister Ava.
Here's a look at the other faux patchwork in the Sunny Afternoon color option.
The boys are wearing pants from this Green Bee's Modern Baby Set Pattern available in our shop.
The pants are super roomy and comfortable for those little legs on the go.
And what little boy's Easter Outfit is complete without a handsome Bowtie?
We used this Snap Bowtie Tutorial from Make it and Love it.
The snap on and off is a great way to keep the bowtie clean during feeding, or to swap it on different onesies for longer wear.
We have so many fun projects in store for these little guys. I think we may have to expand our selection of fabric for little boys!
It was just about naptime for the boys and the big sister was quick to cover them up. The Lamb Panels make a great stroller sized blanket with a simple border and faux fur backing. We hope you're feeling inspired to sew for Spring! Now if Mother Nature would just catch up with our sewing projects...
We can't wait to see what you all dream up with our new Lamb collection. Please tag your projects with #LambFabric and #HawthorneThreads so we can share! And we hope you enjoy this behind the scenes VIDEO celebrating this springy line of fabrics!
