Lindsay's Picks - Ghastlies in Mauve
I know a common reaction upon seeing the splendidly horrid Ghastlies sounds something like - "I have to have that fabric, but what on earth would I make with it?!" Well that was the impetus behind my latest picks, and will hopefully help answer that question! I'm really digging the mauve gray colorway, and have paired it with some similar toned fabrics from Anna Maria Horner and Alexander Henry. The warm hues brings upgrades them from downright ghoulish and Gorey to something a little more tongue and cheek, like the Addams Family.

A Palette For The In beTWEENS

Suddenly I feel like I'm seeing this palette every time I venture out to the store, or browse online at all my favorite virtual window shopping places. It seems like it's a hit among the "tweens," those girls between 9 and 14 - too old for toys, but too young for boys, as I once heard the age succinctly described. At age 4 my own daughter continues to paint her world in shades of pink and purple, a desire shared by almost every little girl I know.
Stemming from that little girl palette of pink and purple, here we see the addition of cool turquoise, sunny yellow, and bright green, adding more natural tones and reflecting a new found sophistication. But of course, the inner child still lingers, mixing with all of the colors of a young girls personality.
If you've got a young girl in your life, why not whip somehting up with them using this young, yet sophisticated palette. These great fabrics seen here are from Patricia Bravo and Tula Pink. You'll find using our Color Grid is a lot of fun as well. Happy Sewing!

1,001 Peeps Visit a Grand Bazaar
In a desert oasis, nestled under a sky of sahara stars, I see 1,001 Peeps. They bustle about Moroccan Streets filled with glittering gems, moorish rugs, and pearl bracelets. The calvalcade leaves this grand bazaar with their magical wares and returns to the royal city. Even if this painted desert is just an illusion, I just love a quilt that tells a story, don't you?
