The Lotus flower conveys elegance, beauty, perfection, purity, and grace, words that certainly spring to mind when I think about Amy Butler's collection of that name. We've just gotten in many of these Lotus prints back in stock yet again, as they seem to have become the perennial fabrics on the textile scene. The collection itself, and Amy's eclectic style of mixing old and new elements of design, has inspired a new generation of sewists. Her fusion of vintage and modern is a bit like painting an antique mirror in a vivid shade of turquoise; the result is both elegant and bold, both classic and modern. Old meets new.
