Before Thanksgiving, we gave you a sneak peek at what we have been sewing together at the shop. The box bags we chose to make are practical, yet fun, and a great way to store all kinds of items! The staff had a great time choosing fabrics and zippers that reflected their colorful personalities.
Both novice and experienced sewers in our shop enjoyed stitching up their bags, so this is really a great project for sewing together with friends.
Laura, Anya and Rachel have quite a few Sewing Together projects to their name, but they were all excited to learn how to put in a zipper. Rachael jumped at teh chance to sew with our new Bengal collection and Dave appreciated the chance to try out a new cutting method! I'd also like to point out that not only is he happy to hone his sewing skills, he's also got the confidence to rock a hot pink t-shirt. That's a winning combination in our shop!
Ashley and Kat were keen to hone their skills further at the machine, practicing the skill of topstitching and the art of using a zipper foot. Michael L. is new to sewing, but whipped his bag up in no time. Elyse decided to go bold with her fabric and zipper choices, pairing Peony in Gypsy with a lime green zipper.
Ann Marie fell in love with our Calliope fabric when she was working on many of our sewing projects, so she chose the Feathered Hearts prints for her bag. Mike stuck to classic chambray for his first foray into sewing and quickly became and expert at boxed corners. Gabby is an expert at crochet, but this was her fist time behing the pedal of a sewing machine.
As always, it was fun to see which fabrics the staff chose for their project! There were a lot of bold creative choices, pairing more traditional fabrics with bright zippers, contrast tabs, two tone exteriors and even applique! Everyone did a wonderful job, and I hear that many are being put to good use as holiday gifts! I hope you've enjoyed this "behind the seams" look in our shop!
