With all their charms, these girls will have you feeling Bewitched! My daughter and her friend quickly fell under the spell of our newest in house fabric collection. The witching hour is approaching so now is a great time to brew up some beautifully haunting pieces.
For starters, we thought a twirly skirt was in order. Mix one part Gossamer Lace with one part no Phus Phus Skirt, and you have yourself a great recipe for an enchanting piece. You'll be happy to know that the pattern is available for free.
The skirt features a flat front with a gathered elastic waistband in the back, very flattering with just enough flounce! The lovely Raven Damask made for a gorgeously Gothic second skirt. To complete the outfits we simply appliqued some store bought white cotton tees. The Twilight design called for a half moon and star design, complete with hand stitching.
For my daughter's we knew we had to show off the beautiful Winged Heart. We both love how the bit of lace recalls the Gossamer Lace design in her matching skirt.
As for those fancy headbands, they were the handiwork of our Meaghan here at the shop. The wonders of a hot glue gun never cease to amaze.
Neither do bats and rats it would seem. The girls were working their charms on some unsuspecting rodents...
and one exceedingly handsome raven. I kept hearing Bette Midler sing inside my head, "I put a spell on you...." I know there are some fellow Hocus Pocus fans out there!
Next the girls felt ready to try their hand at potions. With quill in hand, they quickly concocted a recipe that would leave anyone spellbound.
Anyone surely thinks better with quills, and fancy head wear. And a little candy never hurt either.
This potion is not for the faint of heart. I think I could handle the 10 acorns, but not much else. I'd be better off trying to track down Harry's invisibility cloak...
Here's a nice look at the cascading gossamer lace. It's almost a trompe l'oeil as it really gives the skirt a nice three dimensional effect.
After a few ingredient suggestions from their friendly raven, the potion was ready for testing.
Cheers to a couple of charming apprentice witches for successfully making their first potent potable. And leave it to these bewitching beauties to have it color coordinated with their outfits.
While it seems the invisibility powers can take some time to take effect, the immediate reaction seems to be a good case of the giggles.
It certainly looks pretty enough to try!
This pretty topper set a handsome table for their concoction. We didn't use a pattern, as it's a simple hexagon shape with 6 fabrics in each triangular wedge. It's a fun way to showcase the rest of the collection.
We love that these fabrics can appeal to kids and their moms, with sophisticated yet playful designs and a non traditional Halloween color palette and inspire some wicked good fun.
Finally, the girls definitely needed some trick or treat bags. The Bewitched Panel is great for quilts and patchwork pillows of course, but they also offer a quick and easy way to sew up some new goodie bags for the holiday. My daughter's is double sided with one girl on each side, and the other features the lovely Eternal Gardens in Charcoal.
I'm not sure what makes them happier - the fact that the bags compliment their outfits so nicely, or that they realized their sheer capacity for carrying copious amounts of candy this Halloween.
