I really enjoy putting together these mood boards post fabric collection release. It's a wonder I don't do it before finishing the collection as it would likely help me focus during the design process itself! In recent weeks I've had the chance to see both The Beatles Cirque du Soleil show as well as Ron Howard's new documentary 8 Days a Week - the Touring Years and, since then, I've happily caught my mind drifting from one lyric to another. Many of you have likely already picked up on my lifelong love for the Beatles, and I was certainly thinking a lot about the similarly titled song while designing our Blackbird fabric collection. I approached the meaning and the fabric designs from a mother's perspective; we tend to our children like birds in a nest, or flowers in a garden. But of course, the song has social implications as well, with as much relevance today as when it was written. Hope this board touches your heart and sets your inspiration alight - wishing you all peace and love.
