Please Enjoy our Sewing Inspiration VIDEO for Moonlit!
Designed and printed right here at Hawthorne Threads, Moonlit is a wistful collection of nature inspired designs, resplendent in a moody palette of aspen, carnation pink, jungle green, pebble gray and twilight blue. Enjoy a wistful walk through a Moonlit garden, luminous in the starlight and alive with the creatures of the night. When it came time to think about a location for our collection photoshoot, we knew a sunset garden party was in order.
These romantic prints are a beautiful choice for occasions, and particularly lovely for bridal showers and weddings.
For our table setting, we chose Stoned Path in Ink on Poplin for our tablecloth, contrasted with Nightingale in Aspen on Linen Cotton Canvas for our runner.
The napkins are Moondance in Carnation, also printed on our Linen Cotton Canvas. They add a nice pop of color to the moody palette.
In another life, our Meaghan could be a party planner my friends.
And what's a garden party without a fun party dress?! I loved the fit of my Botany fabric Macaron Dress so much I decided my closet could use another. I wouldn't normally gravitate toward pink for apparel but I found myself really drawn to the way the deep blues and rich greens temper the carnation pink, making it the perfect combination of attitude and grace.
And, I've got a soft spot for any dress with pockets!
The Macaron Dress calls for something with a little bit of structure so while we're very excited to have our new Rayon to play with, I opted for the Quilting Cotton here. The dress has a bit of an hourglass shape, and the little bit of extra bulk at the bottom does wonders for hiding what you've got in your pockets.
For the bodice yoke and piping, I used a sheer Silk Organza fabric that really elevated the dress. In fact, I wore it to a wedding mere days later, just a few miles down the Hudson River! That added bulk around the middle also does a handy job at hiding cocktail hour and dinner indulgences...
Meaghan shares my love for dresses with pockets and happily sewed up another pattern by Colette, this one the lovely Rue Dress.
The bodice has flattering, curved style lines that start at the side seams and meet at center front, making the Rue dress a great way to play up your curves.
The fabric is the Single Border design in Ink. The effect of the night sky cascading down to the floral border around the hem is quite striking. We always love a good border design for its versatility and quite nearly used this one for the tablecloth, which would be equally stunning.
We hope you'll invite our Moonlit fabrics to your next evening soiree!
